It was a very busy night for the members of the NMFD with a total of 6 calls for service starting at 6:20 pm and ending at 3:30 am.
Calls ranged from actived fire alarms, reported smell of something burning in a home,a small mulch fire, mutual aid into River Edge, and ending with a serious MVA on Milford Ave early this morning.
But as always the men and women of the NMFD were up to the task and performed their duties flawlessly, even with no sleep. Fortunately besides the lack of sleep there were no reports of serious injuries and everyone finally got to get some sleep.

It was yet another busy day for the NMFD on 9/5/2025 with a total of 3 calls for service.
The first call came in at 9:21 am. The Dumont F.D requested our Hazmat team to a home in Dumont for elevated C.O readings in the home. The Dumont F.D initially secured the gas to the house and vented the structure. Public Service was requested to the scene and confirmed no leaks were found. However even after an hour of venting the house Dumont F.D were still getting C.O readings. Chief 30,302 along with Squad 36 arrived along with county Hazmat. Teams went back into the home to investigate and discover a burnt up sump pump under a bed in a make-shift bedroom which was well hidden from view. Once the pump was secured and the house vented again teams checked the home with multi-gas meters and got zero readings throughout the home. The team operated on scene for approx. 1 hour.
Then at 12:30 pm Co2 was dispatched into Bergenfield as a Fast-Team for a 2nd alarm basement fire. Upon arrival 31 Truck was quickly reassigned by command to help with fire suppression since the fire had at that point gone to a 3rd alarm. 31s crew helped with fire suppression, overhaul and venting. 31 operated on scene for over 2 hours before finally being released by command. Great work gentlemen on a very tough and stubborn fire.
Finally at 2:25 pm. Battalion 9 was dispatched for an activated fire alarm at the Berkley Street School. Chief 30 and 302 were first on scene and reported the alarm came from a manual pull station and the alarm had been reset. Being this was an occupied school an automatic Tri-boro box alarm was transmitted bringing other Battalion 9 units from Oradell and River Edge to the scene which was a comfort knowing since 31 Truck was still operating at the house fire in Bergenfield.
