Bus Fire 12/11/17

Posted on December 18, 2017

At 9:00am this morning, the department was alerted of a reported bus fire at the intersection of River Rd. and Rambler Ave. First arriving units confirmed that it was a working bus fire. Engine 32 was ordered to establish a water supply from a nearby hydrant and stretch a line to the fire. Tower 31 arrived shortly therafter and was ordered to stretch a second line to the interior of the bus. River Edge Fire Department was requested for one engine to respond to the scene to assist with the fire. Car 3-0, 30-1, 30-2, Engine 32, and Tower 31 operated on scene for just over an hour. A Special thanks to former River Edge Chief David Stucke who assisted by hitting the hydrant for Engine 32.

It is with the deepest regret that I announce the Line of Duty Death of New Milford Fire Company 1 Engineer and Firefighter Frank Matagrano. Wake services will be held Friday from 2-7 at the Ascension Church auditorium 256 Azalea Drive in New Milford followed by a funeral procession ending at company 1. With that being said I would like to thank Fire Company 1, New Milford Ambulance Corp. and Dumont Fire Chief Daniel Molinaro for their valiant efforts on that night. Their efforts gave Frank's family an opportunity to say their goodbyes. Please keep Frank and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Rest easy Frank, your brothers will take it from here.
