PREVENT FROZEN PIPES AND WATER DAMAGE

NMFD has responded to several burst pipe calls in the last 24 hours causing thousands of dollars in damages to neighborhood homes. Here are some simple tips to prevent frozen pipes in these frigid conditions.

Space heaters should never be left unattended.

Gas/Propane or other combustible gas space heaters should never be used indoors to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.

ENGINE TASK FORCE RESPONDS TO PASSAIC FIRE

As of 08:35 am Chief 30 and Engine 34 are operating in the City of Passaic at a multi alarm fire with the Tri-Boro South Task Force. Firefighters operated on location until being relieved at approximately 3pm.

Around 2:00 this afternoon Engine 32 and Engine 33 responded to the 100 block of Fulton street for a reported car fire.

The officer of Engine 32 confirmed the car fire and established command while the crew stretched a line to the fire. Engine 33 assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Public Service Electric was called due to the wires being exposed to the flames. Units operated on scene for under 45 minutes.

60 YEARS OF SERVICE

Fire Company 2 member George Saigh was recently honored at our monthly meeting for having achieved 60 years of service to the New Milford Fire Department and Borough of New Milford. A plaque and proclamation was presented by Mayor Michael Putrino and Fire Department Council Liason Randi Duffie. Congratulations George!
