NMFD RECEIVES GRANT FROM FM GLOBAL
New Milford Volunteer Fire Department to Bolster
Fire Prevention Efforts with FM Global Grant
The New Milford Volunteer Fire Department has received a $2,363 fire prevention grant from FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers.
FM Global representatives will officially present the award in the next few weeks. The award will be used to assist with fire prevention activities in the community to help educate the community and reduce the number of fires.
Because fire continues to be the leading cause of property damage worldwide, during the past 40 years FM Global has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations around the globe. Locally, the company has awarded grants to a number of New Jersey-based organizations.
We thank FM Global for supporting the continuing mission of the New Milford Volunteer Fire Department.
MUTUAL AID TO ORADELL FOR A STRUCTURE FIRE
At approximately 6pm this evening NMFD was dispatched to Oradell for a structure fire. The fire was quickly elevated to a 3rd alarm due to heavy fire conditions on the front of the residence as well as throughout the 1st floor, 2nd floor, and attic. Tower 31, Engine 34, and Squad 36 responded and assisted with fire attack, overhaul, utility control, and air cascade operations. Units operated on scene until approximately 9pm when the fire was deemed under control. Due to the quick actions of the OPD and first arriving units one party was removed from the structure and transported to an area hospital. Our thoughts are with the victim and their family in this difficult time.
