Today around 4:20pm the department was alerted to a commercial structure fire in Bergenfield. First arriving units were met with heavy fire conditions at a one story laundromat. Tower 31, Squad 36 along with car 3-0 and car 3-01 responded to the South Washington Ave. fire. Tower 31 began truck work and went to cut holes in the roof to let heat and gasses escape the structure. Squad 36's crew set up fast team operations, preformed overhaul and checked for extension. Units operated at the 3rd alarm for 3 hours before being released to the boro. New Milford worked with crews from Bergenfield, Dumont, Tenafly, River Edge and the surrounding communities. Thankfully there were no injuries.
