New Milford Haz-Mat conducting their annual drill of county decon equipment.  This drill includes setup, inspection and any repair or maintenance that has to be done.

On May 4, 2019, Summit Street between Center  Street and Grand Avenue was dedicated in his memory to Firefighter Frank Matagrano. Frank Matagrano was responding to a call for service when he succumbed to a medical related incident. The dedication was attended by his family, members of the New Milford Fire Department and members of the mayor counsel. 

It's been a busy week for your volunteer fire department putting in over 194 man-hours of donated time to the residents of New Milford. Please remember to support your Fire Department in our fundraising efforts.

Fire Blotter – 5/4/19 to 5/11/19
5/4/19: Wires Down/Vehicle Fire – Monmouth Ave – multiple wires down with a vehicle on fire between Stockton and Asbury. When FD units arrived they found multiple wires down arching and a vehicle on fire. After PSE&G secured the power the vehicle fire was extinguished.
5/4/19: Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Berkeley Street – Malfunction
5/4/19: Fire Alarm – Faller Dr. – Malfunction
5/4/19: Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Boulevard – Malfunction
5/5/19: Fire Alarm – River Edge Rd – Employees burning incense activated the alarm.
5/7/19: Car Fire – Madison Ave – Vehicle fire next to the apartments was extinguished by the fire department.
5/7/19: Mutual Aid – Bergenfield – Ladder truck was request to standby in Bergenfield for a working house fire.
5/9/19: Fire Alarm – River Road – Smoke from cooking.
5/9/19: Fire Alarm – River Road – Smoke condition in the office found to be from an overheated motor in the HVAC system.
5/11/19: Gas Emergency – Faller Dr. – Gas leak from the supply hose to the stove.
5/11/19: Stove Fire – Faller Dr. – Grease fire in the exhaust fan over the stove.
5/11/19: Gas Emergency – River Road – Reported odor of gas in the basement.
 

The New Milford Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of Former Chief of Department, current Chief Engineer and Active Member Robert F. Heimburg on Friday morning, Sep 28, 2018.  Bob passed away peacefully at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center while under doctor's care for recent illnesses.  Bob's service to the New Milford Fire Department, the community of New Milford and his Country as a sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict left indelible marks which helped make this world a better place.  Bob is survived by his loving wife Eleanor and two children, son Keith (former NMFD and Long Valley Fire Chief) and daughter Karen (former Captain of NMVAC).  Thanks to all who comforted Bob during his recent infirmary.  He will be sorely missed.

The 12th Annual New Milford Fire Company #2 Golf Outing will be held Monday, September 24th at Blue Hill Golf Course in Pearl River, NY. Price is $150 per golfer which included a continental breakfast before tee time and a luncheon at Section 201 in New Milford afterwards.

NMFD was dispatched at 21:19 to a home on North Prospect Avenue in Bergenfield at 9:19pm this evening as a mutual aid fast team. Companies stood by on scene as the Fast Team and assisted with deploying ladders on the C & D side, venting windows, and exterior overhaul. Units operated on scene until 10:45pm.
